If you are anywhere near Southern California and have an affinity for Mother Nature, then you know that this has been a spectacular season for the desert bloom. Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is located in Borrego Springs, CA –an unincorporated town in San Diego County. A two-hour drive outside of central San Diego takes you away from the city lights to discover a valley of its own delight. Last weekend with thousands of others, the significant lover and I made our own trip out to soak up the 90 degree sun and see what the past rain has brought us.
The community of Borrego Springs is a quiet desert hideaway that has seen an approximate 16% increase in property value over the last year according to Sandicor. The average purchase price in February 2017 was $232,636. Weather permitting, enjoy an array of outdoor activities from hiking, camping, golfing, to stargazing.
In fact, starting in April, you have the opportunity to view Jupiter and you don’t need to own a telescope. Instead check out Borrego Night Sky Tours and their 14-inch diameter telescope to book your stargazing visit.
I couldn’t help but think that this flower looked like it was made from tiny plastic picnic forks. Don’t you agree? Borrego Springs also offers several dining options during your visit that boast spectacular views of the desert floor or neighboring mountains. If you choose to pack a picnic or eat on a hike, make sure to pack out your waste and watch for rattlesnakes. A snake bite earned will most likely result in a helicopter ride to the nearest hospital in San Diego so tread cautiously. If a helo ride is in your budget, book a private ride instead.
