April was splendidly busy with plenty of work in both real estate and writing. There were also days of plentiful eating to the point that I really need to consider that bikini season is already in bloom in San Diego. In fact yesterday and today have been blustery with Santa Ana winds and beautifully blue skies.
Buona Forchetta is still our go-to outdoor eatery even now that we’ve moved out of Downtown. I’ve become determined to order of the Specials menu more regularly. Check out this tender and dripping lamb shank with saffron risotto:
I also added a great hole-in-the-wall (easily confused as part of the Smoke Shop next door) for fish tacos. San Diegans should be picky about their Mexican food and even more so when it comes to the fish taco. Oscar’s Mexican Seafood on Turquoise passes with five great big gold stars but be prepared to stand in line on a weekend.
Needless to say, I need to stay on top of eating my leafy greens and not over indulging EVERY week. What can I say, it’s a great city to eat outdoors.
Plenty grateful for the spring mix that comes in my CSA box which has become the base for my salads. Spring has also cropped up some tasty fruit from Be Wise Ranch as well including blueberries, strawberries, and peaches. The blueberries went well with my beloved goat cheese and grilled chicken seasoned with Herbes de Provence. Grilled peaches were juicy sweet next to salty prosciutto.
They were lovely fresh salads and of course wine was served. Cheers to Spring!
